Reusing the drying mats

The drying mats can be reused. Here's how to do it.

Caution!
Re-dry the drying mats with a microwave oven or an iron. Store the dried mat in a double plastic bag (one plastic bag in another plastic bag). If the drying mat is left out in the open air, it will absorb moisture and significantly degrade its "drying" capabilities.
  

            

How to re-dry a drying mat

Using a microwave oven

Caution: The microwave oven that you use to re-dry the drying mat should be about 1,000W and have a “warming” function. The microwave oven must be used only for the purpose of re-drying the drying mats and never for cooking foods or other home use.


1 Bend the drying mat into a U-shape and tie it with string.
  
Caution: Caution: Do not use rubber or metal string.




2 Place the drying mat in the microwave oven. Heat the mat for 30 seconds at 1,000W. Dry the mat for another 30 seconds if it didn't get completely dry. The mat should be completely dry and fresh. Dry the mats one at a time.




Caution:
- If you need to dry the mat using a higher wattage, be sure to dry the mat for a shorter time. Be careful not to burn the mat.
- If the mat becomes overheated, it may scorch.. Be careful when drying the mat.
- The mat may still be hot after being dried in the microwave oven. Be careful not to burn yourself.


3 Remove the mat from the microwave oven, place it in double plastic bags. Store the mat in a dry place.


Caution:
- The drying mat must be completely dry to make a beautiful plant specimen. Be sure to use a completely dried mat. If the drying mat has been stored for more than a month, dry the mat again.

Using an iron

1 Place the drying mat on an ironing board. Set the iron temperature to between 85°C - 110°C (185°F - 230°F)
Iron and dry each mat one at a time. Use the iron with the DRY setting. Do not use steam.



  
If the drying mat is wet, remove the paper from the mat’s unwoven fabric. Iron and dry the paper one sheet at a time. The drying mat must be completely dry and fresh.


2 Remove the mat from the microwave oven, place it in double plastic bags. Store the mat in a dry place.

Caution:
- The drying mat must be completely dry to make a beautiful plant specimen. Be sure to use a completely dried mat. If the drying mat has been stored for more than a month, dry the mat again.
